MytView — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 August 2026

MytView is a viewer for a media server that you host and control. It is built to keep your data on your own infrastructure.

The short version

What the app stores on your device

To connect to your server, the app stores locally on your device only the server address you enter and an authentication token (kept in the system Keychain / secure storage). This never leaves your device except to talk directly to the server you configured. Deleting the app removes it.

What your server stores

Features such as resume position and watched state are stored by your server, under your control. The developers of MytView have no access to it. The server software is open source (GPL-3.0) — you can verify everything it does at github.com/fbartolini/mytview-server.

Linking a TV (the pairing service)

If you use “Link a TV,” a brief pairing handshake passes through our pairing service at link.mytview.com. This service:

Your media is always streamed directly between your devices and your server; it never passes through mytview.com.

Third parties

The apps use only each platform’s own frameworks (Apple, Google, Samsung) for networking, playback, encryption, and — on Android — on-device QR scanning. There are no third-party analytics, advertising, or data-sharing services, and nothing is sent to any party other than the server you configured.

Children

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. All content shown is provided by your own server.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above.
